about the artists

Working as a team we individually hand fabricate multi-colored 14K gold and sterling silver jewelry. We each are fully skilled metalsmiths in all aspects of our jewelry's construction from design to final finish.

Our jewelry begins with cleaning, cutting, shaping, and soldering the design elements from sheet and wire. The metal is cleaned using abrasives in varying grits and is polished with compounds on a buffing machine. We cut the metal with hand or table shears or by sawing with a jeweler's saw. It is shaped with pliers, hammers, mandrels, forming blocks, and stakes. Depending upon the size of the project or thickness of metal the pieces are soldered together using an acetylene or oxy/acetylene torch.

We enjoy exploring the properties of materials and use a wide range of techniques. We solder many pieces of colored gold and silver together then forge them to create married metal. Templates and collages of textured papers are rolled through the rolling mill to emboss the metal surfaces with graphic images. Sheet is manipulated and cold form folded into abstract elements of design. These and many additional steps, combined with precision and hours or days of work result in a finished piece of jewelry.

Sketching of jewelry designs is a continual process. We work directly from the sketches as well as make abstract metal shapes and combine them into 'spontaneous' compositions. We value the seamless connection of nature to creativity and the freedom and diversity nature offers as an infinite inspiration for our work.

We are recipients of 38 awards for our jewelry exhibited at juried art fairs. These honors include many best of show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place jewelry and 3D, as well as recognition for design and presentation.
